April/May Intensives

UNELSS would like to extend a warm welcome to all students who are attending the upcoming April/May residential schools.  Below you will find details of the events we have planned- come and join us, and get involved in your Law Students’ Society.

Armidale Campus:

  • on both days of each law intensive, the LSS will provide morning tea in the LSS office – while there, you might like to join the LSS ($10 for the life of your degree) or buy a t-shirt
  • on the first day of each law intensive, the LSS will provide lunch in the Law School courtyard
  • on the second day of each law intensive, a BBQ will be available in the top courtyard for all visiting external students
  • on Monday 7 April, there will be a trivia night at the uni bar – we would love as many students as possible to join us

FutureCampus Parramatta:

  • each day of each intensive, morning tea will be catered for by an external company and made available in the kitchen area. A coffee machine is also available for use.

With most LSS representatives based in Armidale, unfortunately the LSS will not be present at the FutureCampus to greet you. But, we hope you have a great time at your residential school.

2014 Letter of Advice Competition

Each year, the UNE Law Students’ Society holds an academic competition that asks competitors to write a letter of advice to a fictional client that is stuck in a fictional legal predicament.

We are pleased to announce that entries are now open for the 2014 competition.  The winner will receive their name on an awesome plaque and a voucher which is TBA.

To enter:

1.  Write a response to this year’s scenario (download a copy here)
2.  Attach a registration form (available here)
3.  And either drop them in to the LSS Office on campus, or email to lsociety@une.edu.au

Entries are due by the 25th of April

Keen to enter, but don’t know where to start?  Grab a copy of this handy Guide to Writing Letters of Advice.

Give it a go, no matter what year level or amount of knowledge.  Its great practice!

If you need a snack we also stock chocolate bars, soft drinks, and variety of flavours of cup-noodles at minimal charge.

This coming Residential School expect two LSS representatives to attend your first class to say G’day and introduce you to the LSS. For the duration of your res-school LSS members will be available in the LSS common room to provide you with free fresh home-baked goodies and a bit of small talk. They will have available LSS merchandise and memberships if you choose to acquire it. Do not forget that in the common room there is always free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a selection of reading materials available to any one that is interested. Plus we stock copious amounts of chocolate bars, soft drinks, and cup-noodles at low prices if you need anything further throughout your day to keep your energy levels up.

We are hosting a selection of events throughout the Residential Schools:

  • LS232 Monday 13/08  – Dinner & drinks at Whitebull 6pm (meals at students’ expense, LSS to fund 1 drink per person), then followed by trivia at 7:30pm (no cost)

Students are welcome to bring family/friends to any event, but you should be advised that the movie screening is not suitable for young children, they probably wouldn’t enjoy it anyway. However a childrens movie can be screened in the LSS common room that is close by.

Cant wait to hang out! 😀
